Classic polycotton ridge tent
Tents don’t get much more timeless than this. Nordisk’s Vimur is a classic ridge tent– or at least, that’s what it looks like at first glance. In fact, in typically innovative style, the Danish brand have crafted this otherwise faithful reissue from light and airy polycotton, which means reduced weight, improved ventilation and a light, airy inner climate compared to the damp and musty interior of many traditional cotton canvas tents. They’ve also improved the pole geometry, doing away with the centre poles in favour of an A-frame structure, making for easier entry and exit via the two full-height doorways at each end. It all makes the Vimur a superb option for nostalgic camping trips – without the downsides of your old Scout days.

Founded in Denmark in 1901, Nordisk takes the trademark simplicity and functionality of Danish design and applies that ethos to the production of high-performance outdoor kit.
It’s a winning combination, and the result is a range of outdoor equipment that is driven by design but at home in nature. If you want proof, take a look at Nordisk’s stylish bell tents and tepees, which combine classic looks with modern materials. Or slip into a pair of their ultra-cosy down slippers. Or handle their retro-styled enamelware – a nostalgic range that takes a century of Danish design heritage and reinterprets it for modern home or camp use.
